Quick summary
Heavy vibration usually comes from an unlevel washer, an unbalanced load or transit bolts left in. If it continues after fixing those, the dampers or suspension springs may be worn.
LG washers detect imbalance and adjust speed, but they still need correct installation. Strong vibration is not just annoying—it strains bearings and dampers and shortens appliance life.
Unplug the appliance, close the water tap if there's a leak, and never open covers that need tools or expose wiring or circuits.
Possible causes
Unadjusted feet
One shorter leg or a loose lock nut makes the washer rock.
Soft or sloping floor
Sloped tiles or wooden platforms amplify vibration.
Unbalanced load
Single heavy items cause UE and strong shaking.
Transit bolts
If left in a new machine, it shakes violently and is noisy.
Worn dampers or springs
With long use, dampers lose their ability to absorb motion.
Safe checks you can do
- Place a spirit level on top front-to-back and side-to-side.
- Adjust the feet until level, then tighten the lock nuts.
- Press diagonally opposite top corners—the washer shouldn't rock.
- Avoid wooden platforms or soft surfaces.
- Redistribute the load and wash heavy items alone on their program.
When to stop checking immediately
- If the washer moves far enough to strain the hoses or cable—stop it immediately.

When do you need a technician?
The technician checks dampers, springs, tub mounts and the vibration sensor where fitted, corrects the installation and tests multiple spin speeds.

FAQ
Does a washer need a special stand?
Not necessarily, but the floor must be solid and level. Unstable raised stands can increase vibration.
It only shakes with blankets—is it faulty?
Usually not; bulky items are hard to balance. Use the dedicated blanket/duvet program.
